The Alchemy of Silence: A One-Day Silent Retreat
Limited Capacity seats available

A silent yoga immersion is a potent means to deepen one's practice. Through the combination of yoga practice and seated meditation, this immersion helps awaken new insights in the mind, body, and heart. Students are invited to hold sacred silence from the beginning of class throughout the day—including during lunch—while Tias provides guidance and direction. Removed from the demands of our daily rhythms and responsibilities, you’ll spend the day without screens or smart phones. We will remain in silence in order to allow a deepening of our relationships: to ourselves, to nature, and to simple tasks such as walking, breathing, and eating. Take this rare opportunity to nourish yourself while establishing an antidote for the "habit body" and the "habit mind."

No one can deny that social media has become a major part of our lives, nor question it’s benefits. This workshop aims to bring these topics into the light through discussion and contemplation while helping you have a more productive, empowering, and favorable relationship to social media. If you practice or teach yoga, and use social media, make the time to be here! Discussion. No asana.

The Burnout Prevention Plan: Boundaries and the Body
Limited Capacity seats available

Whether we are parents, teachers, healers, caregivers, or over-achievers, we often feel a pressure to “do it all” that over time, can lead to chronic stress and burnout. Blogs, articles, books, and popular opinion devoted to boundaries make them sound simple: if you feel depleted, just say no. And yet, boundaries are a strong and interwoven system that have deep roots in our physical and emotional bodies. In this workshop, we’ll explore the three layers of our boundary system. We’ll learn how to work at each layer to replenish our boundary system from the inside out. We’ll translate this work into postural sequences and short practices that, practiced over time, can help us find our center, solidify boundaries, regulate an over-taxed nervous system, and promote better health, emotional balance, creative fulfillment, and even a more evolved sense of compassion.

Lower Your Vibration
Limited Capacity seats available

Get your head out of a spin and your belly out of a knot. How? We often seek faster brainwaves since they are associated with quick mental processing, faster-paced activity and fight-flight-freeze stress navigation, but there are physical ramifications if we’re stuck in these speedier waves of mental being. Discover how to shift from quick and anxious brainwaves to slow and focused calm through well-aimed movement patterns, head-to-body alignment, and easy-to-remember breath work. This smart, inspiring, full-body-full-mind practice, open to all levels, will leverage conscious effort and mindful rest to teach you to repeat a slower, gentler, more focused way of being.

Unleash Your Life Force through the Nadis
Limited Capacity seats available

In traditional yoga practice, directing the life force (prana) through the body was compared to the way farmers dammed, collected, and irrigated water for their fields. Thus, prana is thought to move like rivulets, streams, and tributaries (called nadis) through the tissues of the body. Through yoga postures and somatic movements, we’ll open these channels, some of which are feather fine, so that they pulse with life. By alternately extending and contracting the body's connective tissues, we help pump fluids through the circulatory system and irrigate blood and lymph into all the cells of the body. You’ll learn to sense and feel the movement of the life force throughout the subtle body.

What happens when women get together? Something immeasurably powerful and transformative can come from the support of other women. We set down our barriers and dwell in our commonalities, compassion, and understanding. Even though this is only a half of day, the goal is to leave you feeling like you have just been on a weeklong women’s retreat. In her 20 years of teaching women’s retreats, Saidman Yee has come to understand that a lot of times we are struggling with similar issues and thinking that we are alone. Emotional needs of a woman are different from those of a man. We will target common areas where tension, trauma, and secrets can be buried with the intension of unleashing joy. We will use asana, pranayama, meditation, journaling and dialogue to dig into areas that keep us stuck. Why and where are we stuck? What are we afraid of? Are we living our potential? Are we using our voices to speak our truth? Do we understand our importance and validity? We will experiment with practices that address issues such as forgiveness and confidence. We will explore different tools that unlock bindings in the body, breath, and brain that keep you from realizing that you are enough.

Listening to the Body: Yoga, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion
Limited Capacity seats available

Constant multi-sensory overload and the pressure to produce can add chronic stress, even trauma, to everyday life. We suffer from this form of daily trauma, and yet often feel compelled to push ourselves harder. Often, our body pays the price as much as our mind and emotions. In this workshop, we'll briefly explore the compelling science behind self-compassion, and why it's more effective than self-esteem. Drawing upon the traditions of yoga, mindfulness, and contemplative studies, we'll experience several practical, body-based methods of working with self-compassion that can be integrated into any yoga class or somatic meditation practice. Discussion and meditation with light asana.
